Aubergine Cafe

After all the snow on Wednesday night, I decided to take a snow day on Thursday, and went out to lunch at the Aubergine Cafe on Skillman Ave at 50th street. If a sandwich is what you want, this is one of your best bets in the neighborhood.

The awning was still covered from the snowstorm, but the sidewalk was cleared and the cafe was very much open for business.

In addition to coffee, they have a nice selection of hot chocolate – including mint and caramel (too sweet!) flavored ones, available in small, medium (seen here), or large.I had the regular flavor and it was perfect.

This salmon sandwich (around $9) came with a very generous salad and lots of fresh fixings on the sandwich itself. It didn’t seem large at first, but it was quite filling.

This mozzarella sandwich (with red peppers) was quite large and also came with a generous (although less diverse) salad. There are other things on the menu at Aubergine, but it’s definitely sandwich-focused.
